Ride on Road Roller

Training and testing is conducted to CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS  (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standards. If required training can be tailored to your requirements offering in house only certification.

ride on road roller training courseTo provide candidates with theoretical and practical knowledge to safely operate a Ride On Road Roller and by the end of the course all delegates will:

  • Identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
  • Identify and comply with manufactures instructions in accordance with the operators handbook, other information sources and applicable regulations
  • Carry out all pre-use and running checks
  • Configure the roller for site travel
  • Travel over differing types of terrain, including undulating ground
  • Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction
  • Set the roller for compaction duties
  • Prepare an area prior to compacting, i.e. traffic/personnel management etc.
  • Compact materials to given instructions
  • Compact up to supported and unsupported edges
  • Compact against radii
  • Compact around obstruction
  • Place the roller in an out-of-service condition
  • Recognize compacted and non-compacted areas
  • State conditions that may cause instability of the roller
  • State safety procedures when working up to unsupported edges
  • Explain safety procedures when compacting on inclines
  • Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter

Any person required to operate a Ride On Road Roller within their workplace or wishing to improve their operating skills and knowledge

Course Content

Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974, and other relevant legislation such as PUWER regulations, pre-operational checks and daily maintenance, battery care and refueling procedures, mobility and stability factors, safety rules applicable to operating and compacting, shut-down procedures.
