180 & 360 Degree Excavators

Training and testing is conducted to CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standards. If required training can be tailored to your requirements offering in house only certification.

This training course provides candidates with theoretical and practical knowledge to safely operate 180° & 360° excavators.

By the end of the course all delegates will:

• Identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
• Identify and comply with manufactures instructions in accordance with the operators handbook, other information sources i.e. load charts and applicable regulations
• Carry out all pre-use and running checks
• Configure the excavator for site travel
• Travel over differing types of terrain, including rough undulating ground and substantial inclines
• Manoeuvre in confined areas
• Set the machine to excavate
• Excavate below ground level on a variety of excavations in different ground types
• Place spoil in various types of vehicles / hoppers
• Grade, spread and level different types of terrain
• Remove and re-attach buckets
• Place the machine in an out-of-service condition
• Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter

Who should attend?

Any person required to operate 180° or 360° Excavators within their workplace or wishing to improve their operating skills and knowledge.

Course content

Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974, and other relevant legislation such as PUWER and LOLER regulations, pre-operational checks and daily maintenance, battery care and refueling procedures, mobility and stability factors, safety rules applicable to operating, safe use of attachments, excavating and backfilling, evacuating trenches to levels and tolerances, building stockpiles and safety loading vehicles, shut-down procedures.
